The 2010 ZooTunes summer concert series kicks off June 27 with Jewel and Radney Foster.

Among the other performers: Steve Earle with Joe Ely June 30, Carbon Leaf July 14, “The Round 62 at the Zoo” with Star Anna, Damien Jurado and others) July 18, Jimmy Cliff with Trevor Hall July 21, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin Aug. 3, Levon Helm Band with Joe Pug Aug. 11, and Herbie Hancock’s The Imagine Project Aug. 29.

Zoo gates open at 5 p.m., and concerts begin at 6 p.m., rain or shine. Most concerts conclude before dusk.

This will be the 27th season for the ZooTunes series on the North Meadow of Woodland Park Zoo. It was among the first major outdoor concert series offered in Seattle, and now the longest-surviving.

Tickets are $15 to $28. Free admission is offered for one child 12 and under with each ticket purchased.

Tickets go on sale beginning May 3 at 8 a.m. at all Metropolitan Market stores. For locations, visit the Metropolitan Web site. Ninety percent of the $2 service fee on each ticket goes directly to the zoo.

A limited number of tickets will be available at the zoo gates between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. But on May 3 only, tickets can be purchased between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Also, some tickets will be available at Brown Paper Tickets. Ticket prices at all outlets will include a $1 facility fee to fund maintenance of the zoo’s concert facilities.

VIP ticket upgrades will also be available and must be purchased at least three days before a concert by calling 206-548-2467 or emailing concerts@zoo.org.
