PHOTO GALLERY: Alt-country band The Old 97’s at Showbox at the Market

Posted July 6th, 2010 by genestout

Dallas-based alt-country band The Old 97’s played last Wednesday (June 30) at Showbox at the Market.

Along with Uncle Tupelo, The Jayhawks, Whiskeytown and other bands, The Old 97’s are pioneers of the alternative country movement of the 1990s. The group formed in 1993.

Seattle photographer Kam Martin shot these photos of the set, which included songs from the group’s seventh album, “Blame It On Gravity.”

The top photo features singer-guitarist Rhett Miller. The second photo includes Miller (left) and bassist Murry Hammond. The last photo features lead guitarist Ken Bethea. Drummer Philip Peeples isn’t pictured.
