‘For Pete’s Sake’ honors a folk hero
Pete Seeger, the patriarch of the folk-singing movement of the ’50s and ’60s, will be honored with a series of tribute concerts May 3 throughout the world.
The series titled “For Pete’s Sake-Sing: Worldwide Tribute Concert” includes a May 3 “hootenanny” and multi-media tribute at the Admiral Theater in West Seattle.
The program begins with a screening of the documentary “Pete Seeger: the Power of Song” at 4 p.m., followed by a concert by Tom Colwell and the Southbound Odyssey and guest musicians at 7 p.m. The evening includes footage of Seeger’s 1997 performance at the Northwest Folklife Festival.
Emcee is author and historian Clay Eals, who wrote a highly detailed and comprehensive book on the late songwriter Steve Goodman.

A portion of the proceeds from the program will benefit Folklife.
