Seattle artist Jesse Higman finds the ‘grille’ of his dreams in new Heart CD
Seattle artist Jesse Higman, recipient of a 2009 Mayor’s Arts Award, has designed the album cover for Heart’s new disc, “Red Velvet Car.” The band’s first studio album in six years is due Aug. 31.

Jake Shimabukuro: While his (ukulele) gently weeps
Despite its diminutive size, the ukulele is a beloved instrument. Among the celebrity musicians who have had a great affection for the uke was Beatle George Harrison.

Four Northwest bands compete at Sound Off! finals Saturday at EMP/SFM
One of four young Northwest bands — Candysound (Bellingham and Burlington), Great Waves (Sammamish), Hooves and Beak (Seattle) and SEACATS (Kelso) — will become the first-place winner of the 2010 Sound Off! competition Saturday (March 6) at the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum.
Prizes will also be awarded the second- and third-place winners.
